Easy Does It Styles for the Holidays

Remember when the holiday season meant breaking out all the sparkle? Well, times have changed. Matte is the new gloss, and luxe but understated is the newer and easier way to look great no matter the occasion.

Don't worry that you'll end up looking blah, just opt for simple and classic.

Sweater Chic: Instead of freezing in a sleeveless shift dress, try wearing an above the knee sweater dress with knee high boots. You'll look seasonally appropriate and just elegant enough. Feel as though you still need an extra something? Choose a v-neck front (or back) and wear with dangly earrings.

Twist It, Braid It, Enhance It: Instead of piling on the makeup, make your hair the center of attention. Braid small sections of hair along your hairline or over the part. Add tiny seasonal flowers or even a sprig of Mistletoe or single Poinsettia in your chignon or updo. Choose a deep ruby or bold red lipstick and you're good to go.

Upgrade Your Denim: If you can't imagine even a holiday party without your favorite jeans, try to update the effect. Trade in your jeans for a denim skirt and wear with a romantic floral top. Pretend that you're wearing a designer look by adding studs, grommets, ribbon or other embellishments to the hem or pockets for an instant chic upgrade. Trim the cuffs and collar of your favorite denim jacket with lace for a more romantic effect.
