Muted Beauty

No matter how many floppy hats you've been hiding under this summer, and despite slathering on enough SPF to coat the NFL, chances are good that you've got even the most minimal glow. So as you ease into autumn and before you're all bundled up again, take advantage of the shinier, more shimmery you.

  • To keep your sun lightened hair looking more shiny than stressed, try deep conditioning at least twice weekly. Too cheap to invest in a fancy product? Try coconut oil on the ends only. Pat dry with a paper towel before you step into the shower to remove the gunkiest parts. Shampoo ends and then add water to rinse clean. You'll have the shine without the residual goo.
  • Go for the gold. Even if you're normally pale, golden tinted products, from a sheer gloss to a see-through shadow, enable you to use less product for maximum appeal.
  • Pamper your hands (and feet if you're still wearing open shoes). Check that your polish isn't chipped - chlorine and sun can do a number on manicures/pedicures. And while you're conditioning your hair, you can rub excess coconut oil into cuticles or rough heels and even cracked lips!
