One question I get asked quite frequently is, "how do you stay motivated after reaching your initial fitness goals?" The truth is… it’s hard! Once you’ve checked off a fitness milestone or two, there comes a time when workouts can begin to feel a bit blah, and consistency becomes more and more difficult. How do we re-inspire ourselves? Here are 7 ways to rejuvenate that momentum and keep you motivated and on track for long-term success.

  1. Workout with different people

New workout partners can introduce you to different types of workouts as well as introducing you to individuals you may never meet outside the gym.

  2. Try a new class

Spin, yoga, kickboxing, bootcamp and so many more. Get outside your box, try something you'd never normally do. Of you're feeling self conscious you can drag a friend along too!

  3. Make new goals

If your current routine lacks cardio, challenge yourself to 10 minutes after every workout. Same when it comes to weight training. If your routine is feeling a bit stagnant, try setting a new strength goal. Aim to add 10% to all of your lifts.

  4. Reach out to a friend

Share your goals and have them hold you accountable. Even if they are not with physically training with you, they can text you daily to make sure you're staying on track.

  5. Food!

Food is one of the most challenging parts of a fitness regimen, which makes it a perfect opportunity if you're feeling stagnant or unmotivated in your workout lifestyle. Perform a litmus test on your current nutrition and see if there’s opportunity to clean up your diet or try something new.

  6. Reward yourself!

Treat yourself with healthy reward incentives. If you reach your goals for the month, get a massage, a pedicure, or buy yourself a shirt or new pair of leggings for every micro-goal you accomplish.

  7. Write your goals down on actual paper

There is something very real that happens when you put pen to paper and make your thought a physical thing on a piece of paper. Whether it’s a Post It on your bathroom mirror, calendar at work, or in your personal journal, commit to a goal and write it down.

The journey to life-long success isn't always an easy one. But by continually raising the bar, setting new goals, and creating new challenges, you’ll be well on your way! Trust the process, always crush it!
