Empowered Life: Fully Alive

(This is the third article in the Empowered Life series.)

The last questions from our Empowered Life series – What mistake(s) do you not want to repeat? and What is the worst thing you think about yourself and is it true? were an attempt to uncover some of the unconscious patterning around negativity and possibly unconstructive habits that stand between you and reaching your goals. Once we begin to understand, or simply acknowledge, our thoughts, behaviors, and actions, their power begins to diminish. What's hidden in the dark is no longer scary once we shine a light on it.

I'd like to flip the switch in this blog and ask you to begin to connect to feelings of positivity with our next question.

When do you feel most alive?

This is pretty straightforward. What do you do — or not do — that makes you feel fully inspired, energetic, happy, and radiant? Keep in mind, this doesn't have to be anything active. It can be writing, reading a book, playing with your kids, time with your partner, or even taking a bath.

There are two approaches to overcoming challenges in our life so that we may move forward. First, we can decrease our resistance to change or the behavior that prevents us from advancing toward our goal. The first two questions from this series were about doing just that. Recognizing an unconstructive habit so that we can begin to reduce the grip it has on our actions. Conversely, we can increase positive and uplifting activities in our life so that we can connect to more joy, love, and ease. By doing this we strengthen our capacity for positive action. If we can garner enough momentum in an affirmative direction, we will feel more empowered to overcome our obstacles.

More likely than not, it takes a little effort on both sides of the equation to realize our aspirations — a little effort to decrease resistance in addition to a little to connect to the qualities that inspire and motivate us. While this may seem like a simplified equation, attaining life's goals are often quite straightforward. I didn't say it was easy, but it most certainly is simple.

Please feel free to message me at info@livwhole.com if you have any questions about this process.

Om Shanti.
