Are you bored with the same old treadmill workout? There's no doubt that mixing up your fitness routine has its benefits — both physically and mentally. If you aren't sure how to break away from your old gym schedule though, this is the perfect time of year to find new inspiration.

The American College of Sports Medicine recently unveiled the fitness trends that are taking over 2015. What workouts made the Bowflex Insider list this year? Here are our five fitness trends to try:

  1. High-intensity Interval Training (HIIT)On the list of popular fitness trends since last year, HIIT combines short bursts of activity and periods of rest to kick your calorie burn into overdrive. Better yet, HIIT is a great workout to try when you're in a time crunch. Read more about HIIT from Bowflex Fitness Advisor, Tom Holland.
  2. Strength TrainingSome workouts are considered classic for a reason. Strength training is an important piece of any comprehensive workout program. If you have not tried it yet, this might be the year to add strength training to your routine. Check out 5 ways to pump up your strength training.
  3. YogaAnother go-to on the list of classic workouts, yoga is a favorite of both fitness newbies and seasoned athletes. Practiced for both health and relaxation, yoga also builds strength and promotes an overall healthy lifestyle. 4. Body Weight TrainingThis particular fitness trend makes it easy to supplement your regular workout regime. Body weight training challenges your body in new ways, while minimizing time and equipment needs when you're in a crunch. Read up on how to perfect your push-up.
  5. PlyometricsThis trend might not be for beginners. Plyometrics are exercises in which the muscles stretch and contract quickly — the motion found in jumping movements. The high-intensity workout burns extra calories, but also requires a little practice to get started. Plyometrics was recently featured in our Fit Tip Thursday video series.
